HIGHLIGHTS
GENERAL
-
The I.M.P.S. program computes assignment
schedules for groups of up to 250 people. Although originally designed
to compute on-call assignments for health care professionals, this program
was designed to handle other types of work related schedules also.
-
The I.M.P.S. program saves hours compared
to a manual computation of on-call, operating room, clinic, and other on-the-job
tasks.
-
Installation is easily accomplished, even
by inexperienced users.
-
A special training mode for new users is
included with the DOS-based programs.
-
You define your own rules.
I.M.P.S. allows an almost unlimited number of absolute rules (which
are always observed by the program) and soft rules (which are observed
whenever possible) for each type of assignment.
-
Rules can pertain to groups of people.
(Example: At least one person from group "A" should be assigned
to either location "X", "Y", or "Z" on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday)
INPUT
-
I.M.P.S. has an extensive, logically organized
menu system and over 135 on-line context-sensitive help screens.
No need to remember commands!
-
Data entry is easy using a mouse or the
keyboard.
-
The program maintains an internal calendar
to facilitate data entry.
-
The user defines the tasks, the tallies
to be computed, and the rules of the schedule. The responsibilities
of the people in the roster and any special requests are also entered.
The program computes the assignments and maintains all the statistics to
assure equality with all schedules produced.
FLEXIBILITY
-
Workers may be grouped together to facilitate
assigning people with similar responsibilities.
-
On days when manpower is scarce, I.M.P.S.
effortlessly juggles assignments which conflict with the rules, letting
you "bend the rules" to produce a schedule.
-
Individuals with special monthly or weekly
obligations, and individuals with less than or more than average work commitments
are given assignments commensurate with their responsibilities.
-
Definitions, rules, and assignment availabilities
need only be entered once. Modifications are easy to make should
the need arise.
-
Interrelationships between assignments
are also user definable and easily changed.
-
Vacations and requests can be entered in
advance.
-
Assignment equality is maintained by using
the user-defined tallies. The user controls how closely the tallies
will be equalized.
-
Tallies and equitable assignments can be
maintained for years. There are a number of options for resetting
the tallies.
-
The processing orders for the tallies,
assignments, and groups can be altered without needing to reenter any data.
-
The printing orders for the tallies,
assignments, and groups can be altered without needing to reenter any data.
SCHEDULES
-
Eight types of days (in addition to
the usual Monday through Sunday) can be defined to facilitate assignments
on special days such as holidays.
-
Manual revisions, additions, or deletions
can be readily made to all schedules.
-
Gaps in the schedule, which occur because
of unexpected absences or changes in assignments, are impartially filled
by I.M.P.S.'s powerful scheduling algorithms.
-
The program has sophisticated logic which
reviews your schedule and informs you of rule violations and requests which
were not honored.
-
All new schedules completely mesh with
previously computed schedules.
-
A subset of the assignments can be computed
to produce partial schedules.
-
The rules and past history (including tallies)
are retained for use with each schedule.
-
More than one year of data can be in active
memory and examined or manipulated simultaneously.
-
The schedule can be outputted in calendar
or tabular format, and it can highlight specific people or recent changes.
-
Personal schedules can also be obtained
for distribution to each member of your department.
OUTPUT
-
Daily manpower and exit schedules are easily
generated from the elaborate internal database. Thousands of customized
lists are possible.
-
Schedules, daily manpower lists, tallies,
request lists, group memberships, availabilities, tally definitions, group
definitions, rules, and more can be outputted.
-
Outputs can be viewed on your monitor,
printed directly to your printer, sent to your local network, or exported
to other programs for later editing and printing.
-
Schedules can be outputted in a calendar
or a tabular format. Individual schedules can be produced for distribution
to each worker.
-
Running tallies and tallies for the most
recently calculated schedule can be readily examined, printed, stored,
or exported.
-
The roster can be listed alphabetically
or by the group(s) to which each person belongs.
-
The printed output can be customized to
account for printers with varying line lengths and fonts.
INCLUDED WITH THE PROGRAM

A self-guided tutorial, showing the basic
operation of the program, is integrated with the software package.

value) via telephone or internet is included.
-
